Poached Pears
We have to give credit to our friends Elaine and Chuck at the Deer Creek Inn in Nevada City for this idea.  We stayed there soon after we opened the Shore House, and were served whole poached pears in apricot syrup. We adapted it to the following recipe...

Pears
Apricot nectar
Red grapes
Whipping cream (optional)

Core then cut each pear into 8 slices. Put into saucepan, cover with apricot nectar. Cover pot and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes or until the pears are just barely soft. Put 4 slices into a bowl with some apricot nectar and decorate with red grapes and whipping cream.
